Dear Way To Go Traveler, It’s been 5 years since our last fall foliage to Maine. It’s time! From the No. 1 beach in New England – (where our resort is the first night) to the No. 1
most visited National Park in America – Acadia – we are on a quest for leaves, attractions, scenery, great food – you name it! Read on – plan on – a great one!

PLACES WE WILL SEE AND VISIT: No. 1 beach in New England according to Yankee Magazine; Tour of Portland Maine area; Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad; Tour of Acadia National Park including Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole and other major sites; Bar Harbor Whalewatch with whales and puf ns; Penobscot Bay Area with Mt. Battie; Camden, Maine – Jewel of the Maine Coast: L.L. Bean, Freeport & Outlet Stores; Tour of Fenway Park in Boston; and Quincy Market & Faneuil Hall – downtown Bean Town.

Tuesday, October 11, 2016
6:30am – Bus Report time.
6:45am – Leave from McDonalds on Meadow Dr., in North Tonawanda.
7:15am – Pickup at Tops, 5274 Main Street, in Williamsville
Midmorning break: Service Area NYS Thruway.
Noon – Lunch at the Crossgates Mall food court in Albany.
Mid afternoon Break: Afternoon travel I-90, I-495, & I-95 to Maine.
6-6:30pm – Arrive at Jonathan’s – ” NE dining at its best!” in Ogunquit, ME
8:15pm – Check into The Anchorage by the Sea Resort – located on the No. 1 beach in New England by Yankee Magazine in Ogunquit.

Wednesday, October 12, 2016
6:15am – Breakfast at our resort & check-out 7:45am – Depart for Portland 8:30am – Tour of Portland, Maine’s largest city-by-the- sea. You’ll see views of Longfellow’s home, sea captain houses and the elegant Victorian Mansion as you drive through historic neighborhoods overlooking the islands of Casco Bay in Portland Harbor. Your two-hour tour includes a stop at Portland Head Light. This historic landmark is the most photographed lighthouse in America, set in Fort Williams Park.
10:30 am – Arrive at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad—view Museum.
11am – Depart on the Narrow Gauge R.R. – train takes in the harbor view of the Eastern Promenade of Casco Bay in both open air cars and enclosed cars. A docent provides historical narrative on board – the ride lasts until 11:40am.
Noon – Late Lunch (about 12:45pm) on own – downtown Wiscasset – Red’s Eats – might be the best lobster roll in New England! (Yankee Magazine) Outdoor seating! Another restaurant across the street is Sprague’s with lobster rolls also! It has indoor seating. There are other restaurants in the immediate area 2:15pm – Castle Tucker – in Wiscasset – It captures an ERA – the way. New England was! “The tour guide was excellent.” “Rich in historically accurate information.” “The home is meticulously cared for.” “Might be the
best house tour in New England.” “…..the building was fascinating, great architecture, and beautiful antique furniture – maintained & managed by the Maine Historical Society.”
Late afternoon – Arrive in Bar Harbor, ME.
6-6:15pm – Arrive at the Bar Harbor Lobster Bake, Hull’s Cove – we have been here at least 3 times – always a treat!
8pm – Arrive Acadia Inn, Bar Harbor, ME.

Thursday, October 13, 2016
6:30-7:45am – Breakfast at our Hotel.
8am – Depart Inn for guided tour of Acadia National Park. No visit to Maine would be complete without a guided tour of its crown jewel, Acadia National Park. Acadia features an
array of stunning landscapes ranging from sandy beaches, a rare sight along Maine’s rocky northern coast, to Cadillac Mountain, the high point on the eastern coast of North America. Along with Cadillac Mountain – a stop will be made at Thunder Hole, a cleft in the Otter Cliffs that produces a rumbling boom from the pounding surf.
11:30am – Board the Bar Harbor Whalewatch vessel (grab a lobster roll prior to boarding or they do have hot dogs and pizza slices aboard the Whalewatch boat.
Noon – Depart on the Whalewatch vessel – embark on an exciting sightseeing of whales and puf n watching cruise. Besides the frequent sightings of a variety of whales and puffns, other marine animals are often seen around the boat throughout our adventure til approximately 3pm.
3:30pm – After arriving back from the Whalewatch, enjoy shopping the Main Street of Bar Harbor.
5pm – Dinner TBA.
6:45pm – Choice Return to the Acadia Inn or stay downtown an extra hour
7:45pm – Bedore Bus Driver – returns remaining group to our Inn

Friday, October 14, 2016
7am – Breakfast and Checkout of our Inn,
8am – Depart for Penobscot Bay Area and Camden,
Mid-Morning – Drive up Mount Battie for a great view of Penobscot Bay and a Kodak moment.
11am – Downtown Camden, Maine – The “Jewel of the Main Coast” – 20 years ago – there were only a handful of places to stay—now the area has abundance of B& B’s and hence increased shops, boutiques etc. but still does not erase the quaintness. Lunch on your own!
1pm – Leave for Freeport, Maine and L.L. Bean anchor store & other outlet stores.
3pm – Arrive at L.L. Bean.
7pm – Dinner at Warren’s Lobster House Restaurant in Kittery, Maine.
8:30pm – Depart for the Hampton Inn, Haverhill, MA 9:15pm – Arrive at the Hampton Inn.

Saturday, October 15, 2016
7am – Breakfast and checkout of our Hotel 8:15am – Leave for Boston 9am – Downtown Boston – for those who do not wish to participate in the Fenway Park tour – we will drop off at Quincey Market area (I will give you a sheet with directions and plenty of things to do in the area). You will meet up with the Fenway Park group at 1:20pm.
1:30pm – Leave for Western New York.
Afternoon Break.
Dinner at Cracker Barrel – north of Syracuse, NY.
10am – Arrive at Tops, Main Street, Williamsville.
10:30am – Arrive at McDonalds, Meadow Dr., North Tonawanda.
Note from Jerry: In the letter you will receive a month before the tour with hotel phone numbers, luggage tags, etc. including will be a form with the entree’ selections for our nightly restaurant entrees. Please return it (when you get it) immediately to Way To Go Tours.
